Looking to bring your business to the web, or give an old website a fresh coat of paint? We offer complete Web Design services, from branding to layout, hosting to management. With Jordan Solutions, your business can easily gain the flexibility and freedom of a self-hosted CMS without the hassle of hiring developers to build and maintain one.
Managed Hosting – Your Content, Our Stack
With our Web Design service, we manage the hardware and software, you manage the content. All you need to do is tell us what you want, and we do all the heavy lifting. We work with you to choose a site layout, design your navigation, pick a color palette, pick your fonts, and all of the other little intricacies that make your brand stand out on the web. Then, we bring software online and build your new site from your specifications.
As the design process continues, tweaks are made, layouts are changed, and the final website starts to take shape. You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you wish – have us do all the designing or simply have us do the implementation. It’s all up to you.
Once your new site is ready, we provide automatic updates and monitoring of your business critical services, management of your DNS entries (if desired), and traffic scaling as necessary. We call this Managed Hosting and it is a core part of our Web Design service – we give you a brand new website with batteries included. You also get an additional two hours of hands-on professional support every month free of charge.
One of the most powerful features of our Managed Hosting is the free mail service we include with every installation. Ditch your old Yahoo! or G-mail address – get your email address @ your domain and take your professionalism to the next level. This all at no additional charge.
With our Managed Hosting, we enable you to care about what really matters – your business. We take care of the technology.
WordPress – The Modern CMS
A content management system enables individuals with little to no technical knowledge to manage a website’s content. A writer shouldn’t have to know how to write code to publish an article. A blogger shouldn’t have to use an FTP cllient to upload files to a website. Building a website is complicated. WordPress is the CMS we chose to make it simple.
Creating pages and articles, uploading files, modifying titles, and anything else you would need to do for your website on a regular basis is effortless with WordPress. Because it is so easy to use, it is equally easy to hire somebody to work with it. Anybody can do the day-to-day tasks, and because WordPress is the most popular CMS in the world, it’s the industry standard – hiring programmers to build custom functionality for you is easy since so many developers already know how it works.
WordPress also has another advantage over similar CMS solutions – it is self-hosted. While we provide management for your WordPress instance as a part of our Web Design service, you are more than welcome to switch providers – using WordPress will not create any sort of vendor lock-in. In contrast, CMS solutions like Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, or Webflow are in control of your content. If you want to switch providers, you’re out of luck! Vendor lock-in means that they can charge you however much they like, or even delete your website whenever they feel like it, and because they lock your content into their ecosystem there is nothing you can do about that.
CMS solution vendors also may lock you into using their payment processor of choice. It is becoming more and more common for these payment processors to restrict what kind of businesses that can use their services – labeling them as so-called “high-risk merchants”. This list of “high-risk merchants” includes everybody from law firms to prepaid phone vendors, cryptocurrency marketplaces, airlines, crowdfunding sites, firearm retailers, and many more. Since you are locked into the vendor’s payment processor, if the processor’s rules change at any time you may be completely unable to processes transactions on your site. WordPress does not suffer from the same weakness. If you want to switch processors, you can switch processors.
The last thing that really makes WordPress stand out is its vast library of plugins. With WordPress plugins, you can do anything from adding a complete eCommerce solution to your site (including automatic payment processing), track inventory with an ERP system, build dynamic website content, send marketing emails to your clients, and much much more. The possibilities are endless, even with what is already available – but if you really want to, paying a developer to build new functionality into WordPress is trivial.
With all of these advantages, there is no question to why we chose to use WordPress as the CMS for our Web Design service. Our clients are happy with it, and so are we.
eCommerce – Sell Online, Now
With WordPress + WooCommerce, building your online store has never been easier. We offer eCommerce integration for an additional per site cost.
WooCommerce is highly flexible, allowing you to create a vast catalog of products ranging from a simple one-item product to a complex multi-select variant product. These products are all easily created and edited through the CMS, with no code necessary. They can be anything you wish – from a chair to a custom designed ring, or even a digitally downloaded eBook. You can give these items custom titles, tags, photos, permalinks, categories, stock levels, and prices. These products can be hidden, unlisted, or password protected as necessary. You are also able to run time-limited sales and coupons store-wide, in a product category, or even for a specific product only.
As you can see, WooCommerce gives you all the tools you need to build you online store – and it is even strongly integrated with many of the most popular payment processors. With WooCommerce you will never get locked into using a specific vendor. You can even use cryptocurrencies, or manually send your own invoices if you wish.
When you add WooCommerce to your design with us, we will help you select the best store design for you, allowing you to customize every aspect of your customer experience from first page load to product checkout. We don’t charge any additional monthly fee or transaction fee to use the eCommerce functionality. It’s all yours.
Not ready to add eCommerce support just yet? Don’t sweat it – you are more than welcome to have us add support at a later date for the same low cost, or even do it yourself!
Should I import my old site or build a new one?
Many of our clients already have existing sites on CMS solutions like Squarespace, Weeby, Wix, or Webflow. While we can’t directly import the site into WordPress (again, these CMS solutions use vendor lock-in), a manual import is still possible in many situations. So, is it worth it? Or should you just build a new site?
Often, importing a site can cost more than building a new one, but more importantly it can have some severe (and often unforeseen) limitations. With a newly built site, any page can be edited in the powerful (and easy to use) visual editor that comes with WordPress. An imported site, however, may have to be manually edited via HTML or PHP. Links may be broken, images may be missing, stylesheets may have to be rebuilt, eCommerce may become unreliable, and the performance of an imported site is always worse than a newly built one.
Many other Web Designers will offer to import / transfer your site into WordPress without telling you any of this – and when your site doesn’t have all the functionality you need it to you are often the one left holding the bag. That’s not how we operate at Jordan Solutions. If you are really sold on your old design, we can mimic its design and content on a completely new WordPress site. Some things might not be an exact match, but it will vastly outperform an imported site and will have complete WordPress functionality.
What do we suggest? You should redesign the site entirely. While you are upgrading your site, you can take the opportunity to radically improve its layout and content. Make tough design decisions – the kind that you can only make when you are designing from the ground up, the kind that really make the difference.
Redesigning your site does not mean you have to lose your content. In many circumstances it is possible for us to bring over the existing blog and/or eCommerce content (retaining old URLs and doing SEO-friendly 301 redirects) automatically to the newly designed site. A manual import of content is also possible (though time consuming and thus expensive). Please contact us for an exact quote.
